One of the toughest lessons every CMO knows is how hard it is to generate sustained growth. At some point in a company’s life cycle, stalled growth is the rule, not the exception—even for the best-managed organizations. That’s especially true in tumultuous economic environments such as the one we’re experiencing today. Unfortunately, most other members of the C-suite rarely understand what’s really going on within their organizations, leading them to make ill-informed strategic choices and other decisions that often exacerbate the problems they face.
